UMSL Tied for 4th Place After First Round

Archibald, Jimenez, Lueders all in Top 15 Individually

O'Fallon, Mo.– The UMSL men's golf team is tied for fourth place after the first round at the 2005 Rivermen Invitational, being held at WingHaven Country Club in O'Fallon, Mo.

The Rivermen shot a team score of 301 in the opening round, their lowest team score of the season by three strokes. UMSL is tied with Saginaw Valley State and Drury as all three teams shot identical 301 scores, and all are just one stroke behind third-place Wisconsin-Parkside who shot a 300. Grand Valley State ended the first round with the team lead, shooting a 294, and Indianapolis shot a 297.

UMSL finished with three golfers in the top 15 individually following the first round. David Archibald shot a 73 and is tied for seventh place as the top UMSL golfer on the day. Diego Jimenez shot a 74 and is tied for ninth place, while Michael Lueders is tied for 14th place after shooting a 75. Eric Fakes shot a 79 and Marcus Deckert shot an 82 to round out the scoring for UMSL.

The second and final round of the tournament will take place on Monday morning, April 4, with the opening tee times scheduled for 8:30 am.
