UMSL Finishes NKU Spring Regional in 19th

Rivermen Improve Dramatically in Second Round

Perry Park, Ky. – The UMSL men's golf team placed 19th at the Northern Kentucky Spring Regional this past weekend. The Rivermen had a rough time in the opening round, but saw dramatic improvement in the second round, shooting a team score of 15 strokes better in the closing round.

UMSL had three golfers finish with identical scores of 160 for the two-round event, and each did better in the second round. Diego Jimenez shot an 84-76, Marcus Deckert shot 82-78 and David Archibald had the biggest improvement in the second round, finishing with scores 85-75. Eric Fakes was the fourth UMSL golfer, finishing with a 173 (83-90) in the tournament. As a team, UMSL improved by 15 strokes in the second round, shooting a 319 after a 334 in the opening round.

UMSL will be on the road next weekend for a single round event, the Wisconsin-Parkside GLVC Preview on March 26, before traveling to play in the Bellarmine Invitational, March 27-29.
