UMSL Places 5th in First Spring Tournament

Rivermen Shoot Season Best Team Score

Madison, Ill. – The UMSL men's golf team finished in fifth place at the Missouri Baptist Spring Invitational, the team's first tournament of the spring season. The Rivermen shot a 304 in the second round of the tournament, marking the best team score for an event for this school year. That second round score boosted UMSL into a fifth-place finish, just two strokes behind fourth place Culver Stockton. The 628 team score was also the best two-round team score for UMSL at a tournament this school year, bettering by 11 strokes the previous best from the fall season.

Individually, Michael Luedders led the Rivermen with two sub-80 rounds, shooting a 79-73 for a two round score of 152 and a tie for ninth place. Diego Jimenez shots an 85 in the first round, and improved by 13 strokes in the second round, shooting a 1-over par 72 to place 22nd with a two-round score of 157. Eric Fakes shot a 161 (82-79) to finish 31st, and David Archibald and Marcus Deckert each placed 41st with a score of 164, as Archibald shot 84-80 and Deckert shot 79-85.
