Michael Lueders Places Third, Earns All-Conference Honors

Rivermen Place 9th in Team Standings

Columbus, Ind. – UMSL junior Michael Lueders (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet) finished tied for third individually at the Great Lakes Conference Valley Tournament, matching the highest finish ever for an UMSL golfer in the GLVC Tournament. With his third-place finish, Lueders earned GLVC All-Conference honors as well. The Rivermen finished ninth as a team in the three-round event.

Lueders third-place finish matched the best individual finish ever for and UMSL golfer since joining the GLVC, equaling the third-place finish by Dennis Lees in the 2000 GLVC Tournament. Lueders’ three-round score of 220 (74-76-70) was the best ever tournament score for an UMSL golfer at the GLVC Tournament. After an opening round 74, Lueders shot a 76 in the second round, but finished strong with a 2-under par 70 in the final round, which was the best final round score of any golfer in the tournament. He tied Chris Clemens of Indianapolis with the three-round score of 220, and was just four strokes from the two golfers who tied for first place with a score of 216.

Of the other UMSL golfers in the tournament, Diego Jimenez tied for 32nd with a 237 (73-809-84) and David Archibald placed 43rd with a 250 (83-85-82). Marcus Deckert shot a 272 (80-88-104) and Eric Fakes shot a 277 (86-96-95). The Rivermen placed ninth as a team with a three-round score of 970 (310-329-331).
