UMSL Hires Dustin Ashby as Men's Golf Coach

Former Rivermen to Guide Men's Golf Program

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis Athletic Director Pat Dolan has announced the hiring of Dustin Ashby as the new men’s golf head coach. Ashby had been the assistant men’s golf coach at UMSL for the past two years, assisting with recruiting and scheduling as well as practice instruction.

Ashby is currently the General Manager at the Nicklaus Design, WingHaven Country Club in O’Fallon, Mo., where he has worked for the past six years. While at WingHaven, he has helped develop and create one of the area's elite "family friendly" country clubs, including the introduction of the WingHaven Golf Academy. He has worked cooperatively with commercial and residential developers in creating one of the area's dynamic living and working environments.

Ashby returns to his alma mater, where he was a member of the UMSL men’s golf team. He graduated from Missouri-St. Louis in 1997 with a B.S. in accounting and played for the Rivermen under UMSL Sports Hall of Fame coach Jim Niederkorn. While at UMSL, Ashby was named an MIAA Academic All-Conference selection in 1994-95 while being the top player for the Rivermen.

Ashby continues to participate in competitive golf and in 2000 was a qualifier for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in Portland, Ore. He has consistently been ranked in as one of the top amateurs in the state. His list of honors include the 1995 Carlyle Lake Amateur Championship, 1996 Missouri Amateur Qualifier Medalist, 1996 Amateur Public Links Qualifier Runner-Up, and the 1996 St. Louis District Golf Association Champion.
