Men's Golf Finishes Third at Missouri Southern Invitational

Three Rivermen Place in Top 14

Joplin, Mo. – The UMSL men's golf team had another strong showing in their fall schedule, finishing in third place at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational. In addition to the team success, UMSL had three golfers place in the top 14 individually.

The Rivermen were in first place after the first round of the tournament, shooting a 294 on the first day and held a three-stroke lead over two other schools. In the second round, UMSL shot three strokes worse, shooting a 297 for a team score of 591 and dropped to a third place finish.

Diego Jimenez and Drew Stephens were the top UMSL finishers as both shot identical 147 scores for a tie for ninth place individually as both golfers shot a 72-75 in the two rounds. Pat Murillo finished just one stroke behind with a 148 (75-73) and tied for a 14th place finish. Mark Rieke finished 22nd with a 75-75 - 150, and Sam Wiles was one stroke behind him with a 151 (77-74) for a 23rd place finish.
