UMSL Places 2nd at USI Invitational

Kyle Szcesniak Finishes Second Individually

Evansville, Ind. – Having already won a tournament this fall, the UMSL men's golf team nearly captured their second tournament, placing second at the Southern Indiana Invitational. UMSL finished with a team score of 594 while host Southern Indiana placed first with a score of 587.

The Rivermen shot a 299 in the first round and sat in fourth place going into the second day. UMSL then shot a 295, the best score for any team in round two, and moved up to second place. Northern Kentucky was third with a score of 598.

Kyle Szcesniak was UMSL's top performer, finishing in a tie for second place with a two-round score of 145, shooting a 75 in round one and a 70 in round two. He was just two strokes behind individual champion Parker Scarboro of Brescia who shot a 143. Scott Kirchoff placed fourth with a 148, shooting identical 74's in each round. Other UMSL finishers were Sam Wiles, who shot a 150 (76-74) to finish in 12th place, Pat Murillo shot a 157 (80-77) to finish in 43rd place and Mark Rieke shot a 158 (74-84) to finish in 44th place.
