Men's Golf Finishes 16th at NCAA District Tournament

Rivermen Stumble in Opening Round

Falls of the Rough, Ky. – The UMSL men’s golf team dug themselves a big hole in the opening round of the NCAA District 4 Regional Qualifier Tournament and could not rebound enough in the second round this past weekend. The Rivermen shot a team score of 338 in the first round, but rebounded to shot a 318 in the second round for a 656 team score for the tournament. UMSL was one of just eight teams that improved from the first round to the second round, and had the biggest improvement of any team, shooting 20 strokes better in the second round.

UMSL was led in the tournament by Scott Kirchoff, who shot a 158 in the two round event, shooting an 82 in the first round an a 76 in the second round. Pat Murillo had the biggest turn around for UMSL in the two rounds, improving by nine strokes with an 87-78 for a tournament score of 165. Sam Wiles also shot a 165 for the tournament, putting together rounds of 84 and 81, and Mark Rieke shot 85-83 for a tournament score of 168.
