UMSL Cruises to Easy Win

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team cruised to an easy 90-58 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Tuesday night.

The Eutectics scored the first bucket of the game, but UMSL got a pair of free throws from David Ward and a bucket by Brett Ledbetter to take the lead and never looked back from there. The Rivermen quickly opened up a 20-2 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, getting 11 of those 22 points from Ledbetter. UMSL would lead by as many as 27 points at 43-16 after a pair of free throws by Ty Adams and took a 45-26 lead going into halftime. UMSL came out in the second half and scored the first seven points and cruised from there. The Rivermen had their largest lead at 35 points with 2:54 left in the game after a tip-in bucket by Octavious Hawkins made it 86-51 and UMSL went on to win 90-58.

UMSL was led by Brett Ledbetter with 22 points and David Ward scored 19 points on the night. Every player on the roster scored in the game as UMSL shot 54.8% in the game, hitting 34-of-62 from the field. Octavious Hawkins pulled down a team best eight rebounds in the win and six different players had at least three assists for UMSL.

The Rivermen are now 7-10 overall on the season and will be in action again on Saturday, January 27, when they play at Missouri-Rolla beginning at 3 pm.
