| UMSL Falls in Final Home Game St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team lost to visiting Rockhurst 76-67 on Saturday night in the final home game of the season. Rockhurst jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the opening five minutes of play. UMSL closed the gap to one point after a three pointer from Troy Slaten made it 17-16 and UMSL took the lead on their next bucket, a jumper from Cody Kliethermes. The Rivermen then extended their lead to as many as seven points at 27-20 after a jumper from Paul DeChellis with 6:31 left in the half. The Hawks then closed the half with a 14-2 run over the last five minutes and took a 39-33 lead going into halftime. In the second half, UMSL got to within three points at 47-44 after a layup by Troy Slaten, but Rockhurst used a 14-3 run to pull away and go on for the 76-67 win. UMSL was led in scoring by Ocatavious Hawkins with 13 points, and seniors Troy Slaten and Brett Ledbetter each scored 12 points in their final home game at UMSL. Paul DeChellis had eight points and a game-high seven rebounds off the bench for the Rivermen. The
Rivermen are now 9-16 on the season and 4-13 in the GLVC and will be
in action next week to play at Quincy on Thursday, February 22, and
at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, February 24.
