UMSL Records 500th Win in Program's History

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team recorded the 500th win in the program’s history with a 99-62 victory over Maryville on Saturday night.

UMSL jumped out to a quick 11-2 lead in the opening three minutes of the game, getting five points from Stanley Boateng during that run. Maryville would cut the lead down to five points, but Brett Ledbetter responded for UMSL with a three pointer as the Rivermen quickly got back to a double-digit lead. The Rivermen would use a run late in the half to push their lead out to as many as 23 points after a three pointer by Cody Kliethermes and went into halftime with a 48-27 lead. In the second half, Maryville could get no closer than 19 points early in the half, but UMSL followed that with a 16-6 run to open it up and went on for the 99-62 victory.

The Rivermen had five players in double figures, led by Brett Ledbetter with 19 points, and Troy Slaten and Stanley Boateng each had 16 points on the night. David Ward added 14 points and Paul DeChellis had a career high 14 points and a team best nine rebounds.

UMSL is now 4-3 overall on the season and will be on the road next week to play at Christian Brothers University on Tuesday, December 19, at 7 pm.
