Ledbetter Scores Career High 42 Points in Loss to KWC Owensboro, Ky. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan College 97-90 on Saturday despite a career high from Brett Ledbetter. The beginning of the first half was a back and forth battle as the Rivermen and the Panthers exchanged leads four times in the beginning twelve minutes. UMSL went ahead by one point after a layup by Octavious Hawkins with 8:02 remaining in the half before Kentucky Wesleyan would go on an 11-4 run. The Panthers would go up by as many as 11 before Troy Slaten would hit a three pointer to put UMSL back within 8 points but Kentucky Wesleyan would go in to halftime leading 48-39. In the second half, the Rivermen would respond with and 8-0 run to put them within two points with 16:11 remaining. UMSL would again get within two points at 16:11 after a layup by Brett Ledbetter to make it 56-54. KWC would take then over and extend their lead to as many as 15 points with 5:29 left in the game. UMSL would get within six points with 36 seconds remaining after a layup by Dave Ward but Kentucky Wesleyan would hold on for the 97-90 win. UMSL was lead in scoring by Brett Ledbetter who scored a career high 42 points. Troy Slaten would add 13 points and Octavious Hawkins scored 12 points. The

8-12 on the season and 3-9 in the GLVC. They will be in action again
as they host Missouri-Rolla on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 pm, Southern
Indiana on Thursday, February 8 at 7:30 pm, and St. Joseph’s on
Saturday, February 10 (at Washington University) at 9:00 pm.
