UMSL Ends Season with Loss at SIUE

Edwardsville, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team lost their final game of the season, falling 92-63 at SIUE on Saturday night.

UMSL got the first bucket of the game on a jumper by David Ward, and took a 9-8 lead after a three pointer by Cody Kliethermes five minutes into the game. The Cougars then went on a 16-2 run over the next nine minutes to open up a 13-point lead. The Rivermen made a late run and got within eight points at 37-29 after a three pointer by Troy Slaten, but went into halftime trailing 40-31. Early in the second half, SIUE extended their lead out to as many as 20 points midway through the second half and went on from there for the 92-63 win.

UMSL was led in scoring by senior Troy Slaten with 18 points in his final game for UMSL. Nathan Whittaker added 11 points and Cody Kliethermes scored 10 points on the night.

The Rivermen finish the season with a 9-18 overall record and a 4-15 record in the GLVC.
