| UMSL Stumbles at Bellarmine Louisville, Ky. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team dropped a road game at Bellarmine on Thursday night, falling 73-53 to the Knights. The first half, the Knights jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead in the opening minutes before UMSL came back to tie the game at 13-13 on a layup by Stanley Boateng. Bellarmine answered with 14 straight points to open up a 27-13 lead before UMSL fought back to end the half. The Rivermen slowly chipped away at the deficit, and scored the final four points of the half to into halftime trailing by five points, 38-33. UMSL closed the gap to four points early in the second half after a three pointer by Troy Slaten made it a 44-40 game with 16:27 left. The Knights then used a 14-2 run over the next four minuted to open up the lead again and Bellarmine went on from there for the 73-53 win. UMSL was led by Troy Slaten with 14 points, including 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range, and Brett Ledbetter added 12 points. The Rivermen fall to 5-8 and 1-5 in the GLVC. UMSL will be on the road again this weekend when they play at Northern Kentucky on Saturday at 3:15 pm ET.
