Rivermen Can't Keep Pace With the Pumas Jonathan Griffin Ties Season High in 100-94 Loss. Rensselaer, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team were on the road at Saint Joseph's for a 100-94 loss. Jonathan Griffin (St. Louis, Mo./Normandy) tied his season high points, 32 in the loss. The Pumas jumped out to an early 16-3 lead in the first five minutes that the Rivermen were unable to turn around. By the end of the first half the Rivermen had battled back to within six points, 47-41. The Rivermen came back in the second half and until the five-minute mark, the Rivermen kept up with the Pumas, taking a lead on several occasions. With five minutes left in the game the Pumas led the Rivermen by four points, 79-75 and from there pulled ahead for the remainder of the game. At the buzzer the Pumas led, 100-94. The Rivermen shot 62 percent on the night, but the Pumas capitalized on 19 turnovers for the win. The Rivermen were led by Griffin with 32 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Chris Mroz (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick) and Derrell Minner (New Mardid, Mo./New Mardrid Cty Central) had 11 and 10 points, respectively. The
Rivermen are now 6-15 on the season and 3-12 in the GLVC.
