Four Rivermen Tally Double-Digits in 96-74 Loss

David Ward Records a Career High 19 Points at Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team turned the ball over to the Indianapolis Greyhounds for a 96-74 loss. The Riverwomen were led by David Ward (Maryland Heights, Mo./DeSmet) with 19 points.

The Greyhounds opened the game with a 16-5 run through the first four minutes, for an 11 point lead. UMSL scored four quick points by Derrell Minner (New Madrid, Mo./New Madrid Cty. Central) and Aaron Green (St. Louis, Mo./Riverview Garden). Indinapolis then regained control for five points to extend their lead to 16, 25-9. The Rivermen cut the lead to six point on a layup by Green with nine minutes left in the half. Indy then dominated their way to 21 point lead with under two minutes in the half. At the break, Indianapolis led, 52-32.

In the second half, the Greyhounds kept control, keeping a double-digit lead over the Rivermen. With less than 13 minutes remaining the Rivermen had cut the led to 11 points by free-throw shots from Griffin. But, by 2:30 the Greyhounds tallied their largets lead of the game at 25 points, 95-70. In the end Indianapolis finished on top, 96-74.

David Ward led the team with a career best 19 points, shooting 6-13 from the field and 7-9 from the free-throw line. Ward also had a team high seven rebounds. Aaron Green tallied 16 points in the loss and Chris Mroz (Chicago, Ill./St. Patrick) added 13 points. Jonathan Griffin talied 12 poitns and a team high four assist at Indianapolis.

The Rivermen are now 6-14 on the season and 3-11 in GLVC action.
