UMSL Shoots Past Harris Stowe 90-57 Griffin Scores Career High 25 Points in Win St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL men’s basketball team ran past Harris Stowe on Tuesday evening 90-57. UMSL’s Jonathan Griffin (St. Louis, Mo./Normandy) scored a career-high 25 points in the game and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Rivermen. After Harris Stowe scored the first bucket of the game off the opening tip, UMSL came right back with a 9-1 run to take the lead and never looked back. The Rivermen quickly pushed their lead out to 11 points at 18-7 at the 12-minute mark. Later in the half, UMSL used an 8-2 run to open up the margin and led 30-14 after a three pointer by Justin Foust (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles West) with six minutes remaining in the half as the Rivermen went into the lockerroom leading 43-26. The Rivermen came out quickly again in the second half and pushed their lead up to 23 points at 53-30 on a three pointer by Kevin Nordmann (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) in the first four minutes of the half. The closest the Hornets would get the rest of the game was a 17-point margin at 58-41, but UMSL came right back with an 8-0 run and led by its largest margin of 33 points with the 90-57 final score. Jonathan Griffin led all scorers with a career-high 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting and had nine rebounds. Justin Foust added 12 points and 10 rebounds for his first double double of the season and Ike Attah (Port Harcourt, Nigeria) had a career high 10 points and nine rebounds. The Rivermen improve to 4-4 on the season and will be in action again next Saturday, December 20, when they host Missouri-Rolla at 3:15 pm.
