Rivermen Sting Hornets 88-51 UMSL Wins at Harris Stowe St. Louis, Mo. – The UMSL men’s basketball team took a step out of conference action on Wednesday night, getting a road win at Harris Stowe 88-51. In the first half, Harris Stowe got the first four points of the game before UMSL responded with 11 straight points over the next four minutes. The Hornets came back strong, and tied the game at 13-13 at the 8:22 mark but the Rivermen got a three pointer from Jonathan Griffin (St. Louis, Mo./Normandy) to reclaim the lead. Harris Stowe came back and took a 25-24 lead late in the half when UMSL went on a 9-1 run over the last three minutes of the half to lead 33-26 at halftime. The Rivermen came out strong in the second half, opening with a 13-2 run in the first four mintues of the half to take control. Ronnie Banks (Birmingham, Ala./Phillips) had five points during that run to ignite the team. After three pointer by Harris Stowe, UMSL then scored the next six points to push their lead out to 21 points at 52-31. From their, the Rivermen cruised to a 88-51 win. UMSL
was led by Jonathan Griffin with 15 points
and Ronnie Banks and Justin Foust
(St. Charles, Mo./St.Charles West) each had 13 points.
Foust added 12 rebounds on the night and Jared Pratt had 11 rebounds.
Missouri-St. Louis is now 6-10 on the season and will be at home again
this weekend when the Rivermen host Quincy at 7:45 pm.
