UMSL Drops Two of Three to Cougars

Edwardsville, Ill. – The UMSL baseball team dropped two of three conference games at SIU Edwardsville over the weekend. UMSL split a doubleheader on Saturday, losing 4-3 in the opener and winning the second game 3-2. UM-St. Louis then dropped Sunday's game 11-4.

On Saturday, Adam Whitehead went 2-for-3 in the opening game, but SIUE scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the 4-3 win. In the nightcap, Whitehead again had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI double in the first inning. Matt Tesson added a two-run double in the fourth to secure the 3-2 win. In Sunday's game, UMSL got three runs in the second innings, two coming on a two-run single by Nico Gregali. SIUE would scored runs in the next three innings before scoring three times in both the fifth and sixth innings to open up the lead and go on for the 11-4 win.

UMSL is now 16-19 on the season and 12-15 in the GLVC. The Rivermen will host Kentucky Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 25, four a doubleheader that will be played at SIUE.
