UMSL Swept by Indianapolis to End Season

Indianapolis, Ind. – The UMSL baseball team dropped all three weekend games to Indianapolis, ending the season for the Rivermen with a 20-24 record on the season.

In the first game of the series on Friday night, UMSL got a run in the first inning on an RBI double by Matt Tesson. Indianapolis would tie it in the fourth and took the lead with four runs in the seventh inning. UMSL added two runs in the ninth on a two-run single by Eric Kuntz, but lost the game 5-3. The teams played a doubleheader on Sunday, with Indianapolis winning the first game 4-2. The Greyhounds got three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth and UMSL got their two runs in the top of the sixth inning in a 4-2 loss. UIndy got the first lead again in the second game with two runs in the first inning and one in the sixth for a 3-0 lead. UMSL scored twice in the top of the seventh on RBI singles by Cole Williams and Bryan Smith, but Indianapolis scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take control of the game. UMSL would add two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth on an RBI single by Steve Porter, but fell short in the 8-5 loss.

UMSL ends their season with an overall record of 20-24 on the season and finished 16-20 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, placing 10th in the conference standings.
