UMSL Swept by Hawks Rivermen Fall in Extra Innings in Opener Sauget, Ill. – The Missouri-St. Louis baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Quincy University on Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-2 in extra innings in the first game and 12-1 in the second game. In the opener, the Rivermen played their sixth extra inning game of the season, but fell short with a 3-2 loss. Quincy scored in the first on a pair of hits, but UMSL starter Josh Morgan held the Hawks hitless over the next six innings, not allowing another hit until the eighth. UMSL would tie the game in the fourth when Matt Tesson blasted a solo home run off the scoreboard wall in right field to make it a 1-1 game. In the ninth, Quincy got an RBI double to take the lead and then got an insurance run on a groundout. The Rivermen put up a rally in the bottom of the ninth, getting an RBI double by Nico Gregali, but fell one run short in the 3-2 loss. Quincy got the lead in the first inning of the second game as well, getting four runs in the opening frame. UMSL would get on the board in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Matt Tesson, but the Hawks reeled off four more runs in both the second and third innings for a 12-1 lead. The Rivermen are now 13-21 on the season and 12-19 in the GLVC. UMSL will be at home this weekend to host a pair of doubleheader against Wisconsin-Parkside. Saturday’s games will be played at the UMSL baseball field at 12 pm, and Sunday’s games will be played at GMC Stadium at 12 pm.
