UMSL Drops Two at SIU Edwardsville Rivermen Swept in Doubleheader Edwardsville, Ill. – The Missouri-St. Louis baseball team dropped a doubleheader at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday, losing the opening game 2-0 and falling in the second game by a score of 6-4. In the first game, SIUE starter Kyle Jones shut down the UMSL offense, limiting the Rivermen to just one hit in the game. UMSL starter Justin Laramie gave up just two runs in the game as well, allowing eight hits and striking out two in a losing effort. In the second game, UMSL wasted no time getting on the board, scoring twice in the first inning. SIUE answered with three in the runs in the bottom half of the inning and added a single run in the sixth and two more in the seventh for a 6-2 lead. UMSL tried to rally in the eighth, getting an RBI single from Scott Lavelock and an RBI grounout by Ryan Grooms, but fell short in the 6-4 loss. The Rivermen are now 19-25 on the season and 18-23 in the GLVC. UMSL will wrap up the season on Sunday with a doubleheader against SIU Edwardsville at GCS Stadium in Sauget, Ill., beginning at 12 noon.
