UMSL Drops Two to Conference Leading Rangers Rivermen Swept in Doubleheader at Wisconsin-Parkside Kenosha, Wis. – The Missouri-St. Louis baseball team dropped two games to conference leading Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday, losing the opener 3-0 and dropping the second game 15-5. Wisconsin-Parkside held UMSL scoreless in the opening game. The Rangers got two runs in the second inning on two RBI singles, and added an extra run in the fourth on another RBI single for the 3-0 win. Derek Becker (Prunedale, Calif./North Salinas) went 3-for-3 in the game, collecting three of UMSL’s five hits. Chad Sherman (Mexico, Mo./Mexico) suffered the loss, giving up three runs, two earned, on six hits through six innings. The second game saw a lot more offense from both teams, with UMSL still coming up on the short end, losing 15-5. Josh Morgan (St. Louis, Mo./St. Mary’s) got UMSL on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run, his team leading ninth home run of the season. The Rivermen added to that lead with an RBI hit from Morgan in the third inning for a 3-0 lead. The Rangers quickly gained the lead in the bottom half of the third with four runs to take their first lead of the game. UWP added a single run in the fifth and blew the game open with four more runs in the seventh for a 9-3 lead. Tom Anderson (Bridgeton, Mo./Hazelwood West) hit a two-run homer in the eighth for UMSL, but Wisconsin-Parkside scored six more runs in the bottom half of the inning for the 15-5 win. Dan Kriegshauser (Shrewsbury, Mo./C.B.C.) took the loss, going 6.0 innings and giving up five runs on eight hits and four walks. UMSL falls to 15-28 on the season and 7-25 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rivermen will play two more games at Wisconsin-Parkside on Sunday beginning at 12 noon.
