The Greyhounds took the lead back in the bottom of the sixth with three runs and added two more in the seventh for the 6-4 win. UMSL salvaged a split on Sunday, losing the first game 15-6, but came back to win the second game 4-0. The Greyhounds took control in the bottom of the third by scoring five runs to lead 7-2. Josh Morgan knocked in a couple runs with a two-run double in the fourth, cutting it to a 7-4 game, but Indianapolis got four of their own in the bottom half of the inning. The Rivermen got an outstanding pitching performance from Mike Lantzy (St. Louis, Mo./Parkway North) in the second game as he threw a complete game, six-hit shutout in a 4-0 win. The game was scoreless through five when UMSL got and RBI double from Tom Anderson (Bridgeton, Mo./Hazelwood West) in the sixth for a 1-0 lead. Josh Morgan then hit a solo home run in the seventh, his team best eighth homer of the season, for a 2-0 Rivermen lead. UMSL got a few insurance runs in the top of the ninth as Adam Whitehead hit a two-run double for a 4-0 cushion, but that was more than enough for the Rivermen. Mike Lantzy pitched the full 9.0 innings, limiting Indianapolis to just six hits in the game while striking out four and walking just one. He retired seven straight at one point and allowed just one base runner to reach third base in the game while improving his record to 4-6 on the season. The win also snapped a 12-game losing skid for the Rivermen. UMSL is now 15-24 on the season and 7-21
in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rivermen will be at home on
Tuesday for a conference doubleheader against Southern Indiana.
