UMSL Falls to NKU in GLVC Championship Rivermen End Season with 30-23-1 Record Sauget, Ill. – The Missouri-St. Louis baseball team saw its season come to an end, falling 3-1 to Northern Kentucky University in the championship game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament played at GMC Stadium in Sauget, Ill. UMSL finishes its season with a 30-23-1 record. Northern Kentucky grabbed the first lead of the game as Keith Jackson hit a solo home run to left off UMSL starter Blake Burnside (Cardwell, Mo./Southland) for a 1-0 lead. The Norse then got an RBI double in the second inning to take a quick 2-0 lead. UMSL could manage just four base runners and no hits through the first six innings. The Rivermen drew three walks and had one batter reach on an error. In the bottom of the seventh, Josh Morgan (St. Louis, Mo./St. Mary’s) roped a two-out single to right center to break up the Norse no hit bid, and Scott Davis (High Ridge, Mo./Northwest) followed with another hit, but the Rivermen grounded out to end the inning. UMSL would rally late and get on board in the last inning as Doug Wiles (Farmington, Mo./Farmington) had an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth to make it a 3-1 game, but NKU would close out the game and get a ground out to end the game. With the loss, Missouri-St. Louis ends
its season with a 30-23-1 record on the season.
