Reiter Named GLVC Player of the Week

Senior Outfielder Helped Lead UMSL to 13-2 Start

St. Louis, Mo. – UMSL senior Jim Reiter (Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan) was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Co-Player of the Week today. Reiter has been instrumental for the Rivermen in getting off to a 13-2 start to the season and a ranking of 12th in the national polls. He was named Co-Player of the Week along with Saint Joseph’s outfielder Scott Meres in the first player of the week award of the year.

Reiter has started in each of the first 15 games this season, and leads the Rivermen in many offensive categories, including a team-best .447 average from the plate. He also leads UMSL in hits (21), runs scored (19), doubles (5) and triples (3). Reiter currently leads the team in both on base percentage at .550 and slugging percentage at .745. In a win over Mansfield State during the team’s Florida trip, Reiter went 4-for-4 with a team season high of five runs scored, and had another team season high of six RBIs in a 16-0 win over Metro State that included a grand slam home run. This past weekend, in a doubleheader sweep of conference rival Lewis, Reiter went 5-for-8 with two RBIs on the day.

Reiter has helped the Rivermen jump out to a 13-2 start to the season this year, and are currently ranked 12th in the country in the College Baseball national poll. UMSL will have a big test this upcoming week, playing two conference games at Quincy on Wednesday, March 19, and three conference games at Bellarmine over the upcoming weekend.
