| UMSL's Jim Reiter Named Third Team All-American Reiter Earns School's First All-American Honors Since 1998 St. Louis, Mo. – UMSL baseball player Jim Reiter (Troy, Mo./Troy Buchanan) was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-American team after an outstanding season and helping guide UMSL to a bid to the NCAA Regionals. Reiter was named a third team All-American selection as an outfielder, adding to his list of accolades for this past year. Reiter was named North Central Region Player of the Year in voting by region coaches and was named a first team all-region selection. He helped lead the Rivermen to the NCAA North Central Regional Tournament, the team’s first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 1998. Reiter was the lone Rivermen to be named to the North Central All-Regional Tournament Team. Reiter was also named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year. He became the first UMSL student-athlete in any sport to earn GLVC Player of the Year honors since UMSL joined the conference. Reiter helped lead the Rivermen to a first place regular season finish in the GLVC and helped UMSL claim the school’s first ever GLVC Championship by winning the conference tournament. Reiter led the Rivermen in many offensive categories, including a team-best .388 batting average on the season. He led the team with 58 runs scored on the year and had a team-high 73 hits in 54 games played. Reiter led the team with six triples on the season, a slugging percentage of .564 and an on base percentage of .506, which was helped by his team high 43 walks on the year. He added 12 doubles, three home runs, 40 RBIs and was 18-for-23 in stolen bases on the season. In earning All-American honors, Reiter becomes the first UMSL student-athlete to earn All-American honors since 1998 when Eric Blaha was named second team All-American for the baseball team.
