Five Year Program Reviews

The University of Missouri System requires an examination of the activities of programs with attention given to teaching and research. The University of Missouri's Collected Rules and Regulations have policies on program review and program audit. To implement those policies the University of Missouri-St. Louis has conducted program reviews since 1983. Program review has evolved significantly since then into a much more sophisticated and serious part of our overall assessment plan.

In this section you can find the History of program reviews, and the Schedule for the Next Five Years for programs, centers, and named faculty. The Guidelines for Programs, Guidelines for Centers, Guidelines for Endowed and Curators Professors, and Guidelines for Administrative Units specify expectations for the self-study that initiates the five-year review.

The System periodically reviews the Five-Year Review process on each campus. UMSL's self-study for that review provides an evaluation of the process after the first cycle of reviews. How the campus community feels about the reviews is another indication of our quality. What the Campus is Saying contains quotes from campus leaders who have recently undergone their reviews.
