What is it like there?
The Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU, or Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration) is located in Austria’s capital city. WU is the largest university focusing on economics and business in Europe. It boasts a student body of almost 22,000. Vienna, Austria’s capital city, has a population of over 2 million. It is the cultural, economic, and political center of Austria. It was home to some of the world’s most famous musicians such as Mozart and Beethoven and its Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest and most distinguished in the world.
What will I study?
Each semester WU offers more than 200 courses in various business and economics areas (business administration, economics, trade management, finance, accounting, HR, organizational behavior, management, MIS, marketing, and regional and European studies). As exchange students, UMSL students are free to choose from almost all courses available. Students may chose from courses taught in German or English. There are approximately 100 courses offered in English each semester.

What is the language of instruction?
English and German. No prior knowledge of German is required, as there are plenty of courses taught in English and a beginner's German class is offered.
Where will I live?
Students may live in a student residence or a shared private apartment. There are four different student residences at WU. Very few single rooms are available and must be booked in advance by paying the deposit of €550. Double rooms are also available and include two beds, desks, cupboards, etc. If you prefer a shared private apartment, you may contact the university’s housing department and they will forward a link to your email showing the latest offers for private accommodation. When can I go?
Students may attend WU during the fall, winter, or academic year. While the normal fall semester runs from October - February, courses taught in English are offered September - December
to allow students to return to the US for the spring semester. The spring semester at WU runs from February - June/July.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be a
junior, senior, or graduate student. As this is a business and economics school, students should have a business or economics-related major or minor.

How much does it cost?
Below are the 2008-2009 estimated costs for one semester (4 months) at Vienna University
compared to a semester at UM-St. Louis. When you participate in a UM-St. Louis exchange program, like WU, you continue to pay UMSL tuition and may use your financial aid. In addition, both CIS and external scholarships are available.
