| Course registration deadline(s) | Students will receive instructions once they have been accepted by UMKC; In some cases students will need to demonstrate pre-requisites. | Language test certificate required? | In most cases, TOEFL test score required: result (minimum score of 500 (61 IBT) for undergraduates, 550 (79 IBT) for graduate; the IELTS may also be accepted (5.5 undergraduate; 6.0 Grad). Upon arrival at UMKC, you may take an English proficiency test at UMKC's Applied Language Institute which may require you to take an English class. Please inquire for further details. Anyone below a 600/100 TOEFL still test at the ALI to determine readiness. | |

| Housing options | Furnished private lodging very difficult to find. Most exchange students choose the Oak Place Apartments (furnished) where no meal plan is required. Residence hall (dorm) rooms on campus also available (furnished) and typically shared by two, sometimes three, people. Housing: $660-900/month (may include required meal plan - see housing website for options) Books and supplies: $900/semester Personal expenses: $250-$400/month Health Insurance: Students will be automatically enrolled in the mandatory international student health insurance: approximately $500 USD for fall semester and $660 for Spring/Summer semester. For academic year it is approximately $1,200 per student. |

Other relevant information |
Arrival assistance in Kansas City will be provided only if requested at least 2 weeks in advance and is only possible during certain days and hours. To facilitate transportation from airport, students should arrive for fall semester on August 13th and avoid arriving in Kansas City during nights and weekends if at all possible. Students have access to campus recreation center, computer labs, libraries, etc. | |
