What is it like there?
The University of Tuzla is a young and growing university in Bosnia. Started in the 1970s, it has evolved from a few colleges to thirteen colleges and several departments. There are currently more than 15,000 students at the University.
What will I study?
The partnership between the University of Missouri-St. Louis and University of Tuzla is new and developing. Students can take classes in most departments at the University of Tuzla for which they qualify. It's important to talk with the study abroad coordinator at UMSL about your interests and plans, and she will contact the University of Tuzla to see if they can accommodate you. A list of schools/departments is available here. *Note: The Academy of Drama (acting, production) is quite willing to accommodate UMSL students.
What is the language of instruction?
Bosnian. Currently, very few courses are taught in English, however, professors may be willing to teach in English in certain departments. Alternatively, if you have basic knowledge of Bosnian to follow the lectures, you could possibly take exams and write papers in English.
Where will I live?
Students can live in shared dormitory rooms (limited number; approximately $150 per month) or find their own apartment in Tuzla (approximately $300 per month).
When can I go?
Students may attend the University of Tuzla for the fall semester, winter semester, or entire academic year.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be a
junior or senior. Knowledge of Bosnian is recommended.
