| Language requirements | TOEFL score of 57-57-57 paper-based or 23-23-23 computer-based with 4.5 or higher on the Test of Written English or 23-23-23 on the internet based test recommended. |

| Preparatory language course for new exchange students | Upon arrival, all international students need to report to the Applied English Center for a language test. If the students are native speakers of English, hold a degree from an U.S. university, or fulfill the above-mentioned TOEFL or IELTS score, they will receive a waiver after a short interview. If students have not met the above referenced TOEFL or IELTSscore minimums, or if they have not taken the TOEFL or IELTS, they will be required to take an English proficiency test upon arrival. Based on the exam results, students may be required to take one or more English courses during their first semester at KU, depending on their language proficiency. If that is the case, students will take another test at the end of the semester in order to determine whether they will be required to take further English classes in the spring. |

| Housing options | Students may live in double rooms in residence halls, in double rooms in Jayhawker Towers apartments (self-catering), or off campus in apartments or shared houses. There are some single residences available on campus, but availability is very limited. The Office of Study Abroad can offer only minimal assistance in locating off-campus housing. |

Housing: Residence Halls with 15 meals a week: year costs: double room $6866; single room $8050. Jayhawker Towers: single room: $4734 per year (no food included), double room $2702 per year (no food included). Off-campus private rentals (estimates) monthly rent: $300- $600, depending on how many students share the apartment or house. Utilities: $75-$120 per month. Meals: $200- $300 per month if prepared at home Books and supplies: $300- $400 per semester depending on the field of study |
| Comparable health insurance coverage from abroad allowed/not allowed | Students must have health insurance with a minimum coverage of $100,000 per person, per each sickness or accident. More specific information will be sent with the application for admission. |
| Health facilities at the university | Watkins Health Center: provides students with all kinds of medical services, including regular physicians (including gynecology, urology, physical therapy), pharmacy, and lab. Many services arevery inexpensive for full-time students. |

students must verify that funds are available in the minimum
amount of $5182 per semester, $10364 for the year.
We ask that the overseas contact coordinates the application process, reviews the completed application and sends it to the KU Office of Study Abroad with a brief note of nomination for the exchange. Students should please not send the application directly. Undergraduates may enroll in a maximum of 15 undergraduate credit hours per semester. Students will be responsible to pay for any additional credit hours. |
