Map of Austria

What is it like there?
Krems is a university town rich in tradition and is characterized by its 9,000 plus students. The town’s flair and the cultural and leisure activities it offers makes students feel at home and enjoy their university years here. Everywhere you go you are surrounded by 1,000 years of history – on the streets and in the squares, in the old monasteries and churches and in the town houses and forts. A walk through Krems and Stein is always worth it and afterwards you can relax and enjoy the open-air cafes, restaurants and taverns. Krems also has one of the most beautiful and lively pedestrian areas in Austria where shopping in the old town becomes a real experience.

IMC Fachhochschule Krems was established in 1994 and has over 1,500 students from around the world. IMC Krems prides itself on small class size, project-related work, international teaching faculty, and hands-on experience. It is an ideal place to study international business.

What will I study?
At IMC-Krems students may take courses taught in English or German. Courses taught in English are offered in the following areas (look for the "Folder" in the "download" section): Export-Oriented Management and Tourism Management & Leisure Industry. Types of courses include marketing, business administration, trade, economics, etc.

To see a list of classes available and descriptions, click on "International Students Guide." Classes are taught in the Piaristengasse, the heart of old-town Krems in beautiful historic buildings.

A German course is available for students to improve on their existing knowledge or learn new German language skills.

Where will I live?
Students may live in shared, furnished apartments or in a student residence. Apartments are shared with other students but you have your own bedroom. Apartments will be at most a fifteen minute walk from campus. For 2009-2010, shared apartment prices are approximately 300-340 euros plus utilities.

The student residence, Europazentrum Krems, is a 7 minute walk from the IMC. Single and double rooms are available. All rooms have a shower, WC, telephone and satellite connections, and free internet connections. Daily breakfast is included in the rent. The residence also offers a laundry room, TV room, table tennis, foosball, and bicycle storage. Living here offers easy access to city buses and just a ten-minute walk to the main train station in Krems. A single room in the residence is 305-343 euros and a shared room is 234-265 euros. This includes daily breakfast and utilities.

When can I go?
Because the academic calendar is different from the calendar at UMSL, students may study abroad during the winter semester only or the entire academic year.

Approximate Semester Dates:
Fall: September 15 - January 30
Winter: February 15 - June 15
Check the IMC's website for exact dates.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be a junior or senior. Students should have a business-related major or minor. As courses are taught in English, German is not a prerequisite.
