MAUI Utrecht Network Exchange Program


This program is part of the MAUI-Utrecht Exchange and is open to students from member institutions only. Interested students should contact their local study abroad coordinator regarding the application/placement process and for additional information. Application deadlines for all MAUI-Utrecht programs, including fall semester, winter semester, or academic year abroad, is in February. Spring semester placements may be available after the deadline: contact the Study Abroad Coordinator.

Language requirements Main regular courses are taught in Portuguese, so students must have knowledge of it to enable them to follow them.There are some regular courses availble in English (see below).

Courses taught in English The University of Coimbra offers some courses in English. For further information you should contact the International Office.
Internships available There are some possibilities in certain areas.
Student employment Not very usual, but there are some possibilities at the Student Association.

Application for students’ residences must be sent to the International Office. Please be aware that the accommodation at students’ residences is temporary. After a few weeks, students must locate their own housing. The students can find additional housing information at the Students’ Association.

Student residence - (monthly) 100 Euro Students will have to pay a reservation fee of €50 according to instructions. (prices will be updated in February)
Private accommodation
  - Single room: +/- 200 Euro
  -Double room: +/- 150 Euro
  -T1 (Kitchen, living room, and bedroom) - 500Euro

Student restaurants: meal from - 1.90 Euro to 4.50 Euro

Comparable health insurance coverage from abroad allowed/not allowed Students are advised to come with health insurance that will cover them while abroad.
Health facilities at the university The University of Coimbra has a medical center where students can go once they are enrolled at the university.
Other relevant information On the enrolment of the University, students must pay a tax of 2.09€ for school tax insurance in order to cover accidents inside campus.
