The type of accommodation depends on the university. For most programs, housing is provided in dormitories or in student apartments. Housing is guaranteed at all programs.

When can I go?
The academic calendar is different in Australia than in the US:
First semester = January - June
Second semester = July - November

UMSL students may attend either semester or the full academic year.

What are the eligibility requirements?
Requirements vary by university. Generally, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75, but some programs require 3.0. Usually, participants must have junior or senior standing.

How can I learn more?
Visit the AustraLearn website or stop by the Study Abroad Office in 261 MSC to browse their catalog. You can also make an appointment to discuss this program with a study abroad advisor; call 516-5229.

For general information on preparing for study abroad in Australia, the Australian Government provides a pre-departure handbook for North American students.

How much does it cost?
The cost also varies by Australian university. This is not an exchange program, therefore students pay tuition and fees to AustraLearn. Students do not pay any fees to UMSL for participating in this program. Keep in mind since this is a non-UMSL program, you may use any federal financial aid received through the Financial Aid Office, but UMSL and state scholarships may or may not apply. In addition to scholarships offered through Center for International Studies at UMSL, students are also eligible for several scholarships through AustraLearn.
