Shanghai Summer Program

Shanghai is known as the "Dragon head" of the Chinese economy. With a population of over 18.5 million people, it is the international financial center, logistics, and trade hub. Shanghai offers a cosmopolitan lifestyle - Asia's global city - where East meets West. Shanghai is an excellent gateway to China with easy access to other major cities and cultural sites in China and other parts of Asia.

ESSCA, one of UMSL's partner universities in France, organizes the Shanghai Summer Program each summer. The program is taught entirely in English at ESAI, a business school. Participants will earn six credits at UMSL. Key courses taught are:

  • Chinese economy
  • Chinese history, literature, and culture
  • Doing business in China: commercial environment and legal system
  • Asian economy and geopolitics
  • Shanhai interdisciplinary field research.

This program also includes company visits and cultural activities throughout the program.
