Summer Program in South Africa

Earn 6 credit hours through this exciting 4-week program based in Cape Town at the University of Western Cape (UWC) in South Africa. Under the direction of Prof. Sheilah Clarke-Ekong and Prof. Richard White, students will participate in an enriching educational and cultural experience with other UWC students. The program is sponsored by the four campuses of the UM System (UMSL, UMKC, UMC, and MST).

The 2009 summer program combines academic coursework with excursions throughout South Africa. The trip includes a 2-night stay in Kruger National Park, where students will learn about the ecology and environment of South Africa while witnessing the diverse wildlife and impressive historical and archaeological sights of the region.  Classes will also cover contemporary perspectives on women in Sub-Saharan Africa.
