ITAM Business and Culture in Mexico

Business & Culture in Mexico is a six-week program offered during the summer for undergraduate students interested in learning about Mexico’s business environment and language and culture. This program is designed for students to take Business courses in English with the option of also learning or improving their Spanish. In the Business subjects, International Business in Mexico and International Finance, international students will work together with ITAM’s own Business students to explore both aspects of the country and its role in the global economic community. Language and Culture courses will be give students an additional dimension into the cultural environment of the country. All courses will also include visits to leading Business and Cultural sites of Mexico City and some optional visits to sites in the provinces will also be organized.

Courses:Students must enroll in 12 ITAM credits from the following selection of subjects (6 ITAM credits = 3 UMSL credits; therefore you will earn a total of 6 UMSL credits for this program ):
- International Business in Mexico (6 ITAM credits)
- International Finance (6 ITAM credits)
- International Marketing (6 ITAM credits)
- Spanish Language and Composition (3 ITAM credits)
- Spanish Conversation (3 ITAM credits)
- Business Spanish (3 ITAM credits)
- Mexican Culture and Civilization: A Historical Overview (3 ITAM credits)
June 16 - July 29, 2008
(Arrive on June 14, depart July 30)
Accommodations:
ITAM will arrange for students to stay in comfortable student residences within walking distance of the ITAM campus. Students may choose private rooms with either private or shared baths, ranging from US$300-$450.00 per month (US$450-$675 for the entire six weeks). All residences have cooking facilities.
Estimated Costs:
UMSL Tuition: $1,431.60 (6 credits. Subject to change, summer '08 rates announced in April.)
Housing: $450 - $675, depending on housing
Airfare: $500 (estimate)
Mandatory Health Insurance: $76
Meals, Personal Expenses, optional excursions: $1,250 (depends on personal habits)
Application Process:
Students will need to submit the following documents to the Study Abroad
Office. Forms are available online
or in the Study Abroad Office, 261 MSC. Deadline is February 22.

2. One letter of reference
3. Transcript (Use study abroad transcript request form)
4. Scholarship application and scholarship essay
Upon your acceptance to the program, additional forms will be mailed to you. You will need to complete and return them to the Study Abroad Office in a timely manner.
Mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation:
All
UM-St. Louis students who study abroad are required to attend pre-departure orientation. This session will cover registration and financial aid, credit transfer, travel, health and safety topics, culture shock, and much more. Details and location.
