Strasbourg French Language Program

In July 2009 the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Missouri-St. Louis offers students a unique opportunity to study French in the crossroads of Europe, Strasbourg, France.

Experience the rich cultural heritage and picturesque setting of this dynamic European capital. The program will include language study, tours of major sites of interest, an excursion on the Alsatian Wine Route, and more.

French 2190 - Special Readings in French*
French 3271 - Intermediate Conversation*
*Prerequisite: French 2101 or equivalent

Dates:
July 5 - July 25, 2009
Lodging available through end of July at no extra cost.

Estimated Costs:
Tuition: $1,546.80 (6 credits. 2008 rate; summer 2009 rate TBA in April.)
Program Fee*: $1450
Airfare: $1,250 (estimate)
Meals and Personal Expenses: $1,000 (depends on personal habits)

*Includes lodging through end of July, excursions, selected meals, class materials, language partner, sickness & accident insurance, and guest lectures. Does not include airfare and spending money.

*The program fees were calculated at 1.5 rate (1EUR=1.5USD).  UMSL reserves the right to revise the program fee if there are fluctuations in the exchange rate.  Participants are responsible for any increase in rates.

Application Process:
Students will need to submit the following documents to the Study Abroad Office. Forms are available online or in the Study Abroad Office, 261 MSC. Application and non-refundable deposit of $500 are due by February 23, 2009. Additional documents and remaining program fee ($950) are due by April 3, 2009. Tuition ONLY may be billed to your UMSL student account; the program fees are payable by check or money order.

4. Non-UMSL students must also submit a letter of recommendation

Mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation:
All UM-St. Louis students who study abroad are required to attend pre-departure orientation. This session will cover registration and financial aid, credit transfer, travel, health and safety topics, culture shock, and much more. Details and location.
