CIDEF Intensive French Language

CIDEF Intensive French Language Summer Program
Angers, France

UM-St. Louis students may attend the intensive French language institute at the Centre International d’Études Françaises (CIDEF). Students will improve their French through language courses, conversation groups, lab work, written exercises, and some interactions with French students. Students pay all fees to CIDEF and receive three units of transfer credit.

For an extra fee, students can participate in optional weekend excursions.

Students may live in a dormitory or rent a room from a French family for the duration of the program. More info and CIDEF details in English .

Estimated Costs:

Tuition: 860 Euros
Room and Board: 700 – 1,100 Euros*
Airfare: $1,100 (estimate)
Optional Excursions: 285 Euros
Mandatory Health Insurance: $38
Meals and Personal Expenses: $600 - $1000 (depends on personal habits)

*Price varies depending on living arrangements and meals. Students have the choice of living in the university residence or with a family. Students may also choose to include some or all of their meals in the room and board.

Application Process:
Students will need to submit the following documents to the Study Abroad Office. Forms are available online or in the Study Abroad Office, 261 MSC. Deadline is February 22.

1. UMSL Study Abroad Application Form
2. One letter of reference
3. Transcript (Use study abroad transcript request form)
4. Scholarship application and scholarship essay

Upon your acceptance to the program, additional forms will be mailed to you. You will need to complete and return them to the Study Abroad Office in a timely manner.

Mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation:
All UM-St. Louis students who study abroad are required to attend pre-departure orientation. This session will cover registration and financial aid, credit transfer, travel, health and safety topics, culture shock, and much more. Details and location.
