COST
Students
are often surprised at how affordable study abroad can be. Depending
on the location, it is sometimes less expensive to study abroad
then to stay in St. Louis! The cost of the program depends on the
services provided and the country and city of study. For most
semester
or year-long programs, participants pay UM-St. Louis tuition and
receive UM-St. Louis credit (if you receive a scholarship through UMSL to cover non-resident fees, you will also receive this scholarship when you study abroad). Airfare, room and board, and other
fees are paid individually to the respective organization. Summer
programs vary on what is included in the program cost. Students
usually live in dormitories, shared apartments, or sometimes homestays.
Detailed cost estimates are available for each program on its
website
or in the Study Abroad Office.
FINANCIAL
AID
The same grants and loans for which students are currently eligible in
their financial aid package can apply towards an approved study abroad
program. Detailed questions should be directed to Carol
Banks in the Financial Aid Office, 327 MSC, 516-6394. Students may
apply for additional loans through private sources; see the Financial
Aid Office.
