UMSL Term Abroad: Academic Year, Fall, Spring. During the spring semester it is possible to start to study either in January or in March in the Gateway Programme.

The University: Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is a multidisciplinary institution of higher education and an efficient actor in education and research, development and innovation (RDI) in the region of South Ostrobothnia in West Finland. The number of full-time students is 4800.

Academics: In the Gateway exchange program students are offered a range of core international business studies which can be complemented with courses focusing on a specific target area and courses on E-Business. The International Business program at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is conducted entirely in English. Students may take courses in a variety of business-related subjects, including management, marketing, communication, etc. Each fall a special international business semester is offered. Finnish language courses are also offered.

Housing: Students will live in the Marttilan Kortteeri, which is a student housing organization. The student apartments are conveniently located within walking distance to campus, grocery store, bus stops, and the train station. Two and three bedroom apartments, as well as studios, are available. All of the rooms are furnished. 

Activities and Programs:

Location: Finland is a country of open spaces, tens of thousands of lakes, numerous rivers, peatlands and extensive forests. Although one-third of the country lies North of the Arctic Circle, the climate is surprisingly moderate, thanks to the warmth-bringing Gulf Stream. Seinäjoki is one of the fastest growing urban centers in Finland, with a population of 58,000 in the city and 200,000 in the region. It is well-situated for travel throughout Finland and to the rest of Europe. English is generally understood in all parts of Finland.

Upon Acceptance: Students will be required to submit supplemental materials, purchase HTH insurance, and participate in a mandatory orientation. More information will be distributed to all accepted students.
