Student Teaching in China

Language of Instruction: English. No foreign language experience required.

UMSL Study Abroad Eligibility Requirements.
School: Fuxin Primary and Experimental Middle School serves approximately 2,000 students in grades 1-12. You will have support from Chinese teachers and administrators at the school as you plan and teach your own students.
Academics: You will teach English classes and are free to use any subject matter in the courses you teach. Fuxin students are especially interested to learn about American culture. You will earn credit for your Practicum II teacher certification through student teaching and by participating in a pre-departure and online course. Your practicum experience will be overseen by an on-site faculty liason based out of Shenyang Normal University.
Housing: You live free of charge in private dorm rooms near the campus. You will share a full-service kitchen and access to laundry facilities with the other UMSL students. Campus dining facilities are available for breakfast and lunch free of charge.
Activities and Programs: Upon arriving, you will spend a few days in Beijing exploring the capital city of China as well as visiting the Great Wall. Throughout the semester there will be other opportunities to explore and experience the province and the country.

Mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation: participants are required to complete an online study abroad orientation and attend an in-person orientation. Participants will be notified by the program coordinator regarding the specific orientation requirements.
* UMSL tuition fees are based on 13undergraduate credit hours at the 2014/15 rate - 2015/16 tuition rate TBA April 2015.
