What is a WorkKeys job profile?
A WorkKeys job profile identifies the skills and skill levels required to perform job tasks of a specific job. The skill areas that may be included in the profile include: Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, Listening, Writing, Locating Information, Applied Technology, Observations, and Teamwork.
|
What can we do with the results of a job profile?
A job profile conducted by certified ACT job profilers can be used for employee selection and training or instructional program development. The job profiling component of the WorkKeys system, when appropriately used, meets the validity and fairness requirements described in the federal government's Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures and enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and ADA guidelines.
|
| What is involved in our company doing WorkKeys job profiles? |
- We recommend that an informational meeting be held to inform appropriate representatives from your company, including representatives of the collective bargaining unit, about the WorkKeys system and their involvement in the profiling process. We recommend that the profiler(s) you select be invited to participate in this informational meeting when appropriate.
- Prior to the profile, profilers will need to tour the work site to observe workers in the profiled job performing their duties using tools and equipment, reading materials, charts, etc.
- Each WorkKeys job profile will take 1-2 days or evenings in a conference room setting, with access to a copier and possibly a TV/VCR. For each job profile, 6-8 employees who regularly perform the job (Subject Matter Experts) will need to be involved for the duration of this profiling process.
- To insure protection under EEOC and ADA
guidelines, ACT
recommends that a profile replication be performed.

Considerations for selecting a profiler:
|
- The profilers listed in this guide are certified by ACT/WorkKeys to perform WorkKeys profiling services. Each profiler listed in this guide retains membership status with WorkABLE and is an important part of its collaborative efforts.
- WorkABLE, however, does not supervise or specifically endorse the profilers listed, set pricing standards, or regulate the quality of work performed by the profilers listed.
- WorkABLE recommends that you contact and interview several profilers from this guide before contracting for services, as the profilers listed may vary in terms of availability, industry-specific experience, or pricing standards. If you have questions about this listing, or would like WorkABLE's assistance in locating providers that meet your unique needs, please contact the WorkABLE Service Center.

WorkABLE will not knowingly support individuals or organizations who are involved in misuse or misrepresentation of the WorkKeys system. Misuse may be defined as illegal or unethical use of information or systems including but not limited to: 1) using an occupational profile, rather than a job profile, for high-stakes employment decisions; 2) misuses of testing materials, EEOC or ADA violations; or 3) use of the WorkKeys system in violation of a Collective Bargaining Agreement which specifically prohibits its use. When contracted projects are funded by WorkABLE, then WorkABLE reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services if or when informed of the intentional misuse of the WorkKeys system.
