Needed: Student Documenter

An Opportunity for Preservice Teachers to Learn more about Technology and and Learning...

As part of a new grant, "Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology" student documenters are needed to complete case studies of targeted education courses. One student documenter from each class will complete a case study focused on the course in which the student is a participant. This mini-case study will be the story of learning and technology integration in that targeted course.

Case studies will portray the learning, which is in process in the targeted course, and the technology processes that contribute to this learning. The case study will include both positive and negative aspects of the learning process. The case study will portray the learning community: preservice education students, faculty, practicing teachers and students in field experience settings, and guests who attend and present during class sessions. The case study will portray the learning activities of the course and the form of these activities.

Student documenters will:

  1. Attend one group or individual training session (1 hour in length) with the evaluation team (Dr. Katherine Beyer, outside evaluator)
  2. Will follow guidelines provided to complete the case study
  3. Will have access to evaluation team throughout the semester for support and guidance in developing the case study (list serve)
  4. Will receive a $200 stipend upon acceptable completion of the case study by deadline. (December 21st, 2001)

Each case study will include the following components:

  1. Description of the course, it's purpose and structures
  2. Description of the preservice students involved in the course; their previous experience in education courses and with field experiences (formal and informal)
  3. Description of interaction between faculty and preservice students via course activities and assignments
  4. Description of preservice students' perspectives of their own and each others' learning
