| The College of
Education's curriculum redesign integrates three issues throughout
courses at all levels: technology, multiculturalism, and field experiences.
An institution such as our own that certifies up to 500 teachers per
year faces a significant challenge in cultivating productive partnerships
with K12 schools for field experiences. In the long run, the few technology-rich
classrooms with innovative, inquiry-oriented teachers at our MINTs
partner schools need to be supplemented with more sites to serve as
excellent technology-using models. Accordingly, one of our staff is
working with the "Metro Cluster" school partners the College
is cultivating as primary field experience sites to assess their readiness
with educational technology, and begin professional development activities
through selected curriculum development and implementation. This process
was begun in January 2001at the nine elementary, middle and high schools,
and will continue until the end of the grant. |
