As an Assistant Dean of Students, Natissia Small provides direct oversight and leadership for Precollegiate Student Services (Bridge Program) and Multicultural Student Services. Natissia joined the University in 1995 and currently works directly with diverse student populations, first-generation students, middle and high school students, parents, and school administrators within the St. Louis community. She has led the Bridge Program to state and national recognition. Bridge continues to serve more than 4,000 students and families in the St. Louis community annually. Natissia’s responsibilities include oversight for college access initiatives and programming, retention services, academic support, parental engagement, leadership development and cultural enrichment programming. She earned her undergraduate degree in Mass Communication from Southeast Missouri State University, and dual Master degrees in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Adult Education; and Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  She has completed her doctoral degree in Educational Policy and Leadership at UMSL.  Natissia is devoted to serving, implementing, and executing effective college access and student retention services.

Channon Peoples

Channon Peoples
Assistant Director

Channon joined the Office of Precollegiate Student Services in 2003 and currently serves as Assistant Director. She is a graduate of Harris-Stowe State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing, a Master's degree in Public Policy and Administration and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership both from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Channon brings expertise in the area of program coordination, recruiting and student services. She is a member of the Missouri Association for College Admissions Counseling (MOACAC) and the National College Access Network (NCAN). She is an active volunteer in various youth and community organizations structured to engage and encourage youth to seek post-secondary attainment.

Lisa Sturgeon

Lisa began working with the Office of Precollegiate Student Services in March 2010. She brings more than 32 years of administrative experience. Her strong commitment to assist students and parents in their transition from high school to college have made her a key asset to the department.

Aaron Clark

Aaron Clark
Precollegiate Program Coordinator

Aaron joined the Office of Precollegiate Student Services in June of 2017 and currently serves as a Program Coordinator. He began working for the University in 2015 in the Office of Admissions as an Admissions Representative. He is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and a minor in Business Administration. He is currently working on a Master's of Education degree in Adult Higher Education and a Certificate in Student Affairs Leadership, both from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Aaron is devoted to student success, college readiness, and successful matriculation through post-secondary education.

Maggie McCarthy

Maggie McCarthy
Precollegiate Program Coordinator

Maggie McCarthy joins the Precollegiate Student Services Office as a program coordinator. Prior to beginning work at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, Maggie worked as a Residential Life Coordinator for the University of Missouri – Kansas City, managing an apartment complex with a diverse student population. During Maggie’s time at UMKC, she grew fond of the opportunity to promote student success and retention in an urban environment, ultimately bringing her back to the St. Louis community. Having earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Creighton University and Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Maggie is thrilled to join the Precollegiate Student Services team in their efforts to engage with high school students, promoting educational opportunities and resources. Maggie currently serves as the editor for the Student Leadership Program Knowledge Community newsletter, a publication from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), in which she is an active member.

Monica Fleisher, M.A.T.
Precollegiate Program Coordinator

Monica Fleisher serves as a program coordinator at the Office of Precollegiate Student Services. She graduated from Carleton College, majoring in English with a concentration in educational studies. After college, she moved to New York City and served two terms in AmeriCorps as a teaching resident at Bronx River High School, a new public high school in the Bronx. She earned her master’s degree in teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and founded Bronx River’s College Prep program, teaching a daily College Prep course and advising all juniors and seniors throughout the college and financial aid application process. Monica is excited to return to her hometown of St. Louis and continue to promote college access through the work of the Bridge Program.
