Business Program

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Starting in Fall 2018, a 2+2 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA in General Business) will be offered on site at St. Charles Community College. In addition, online courses leading towards a business degree are offered at St. Charles Community College, St. Louis Community College South County and St. Louis Community College at Wildwood.

The UMSL degree in business administration provides a thorough understanding of the fundamental areas in business, including: finance, accounting, information systems, logistics, marketing and management. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the diverse environment of the business world.

Education is a complex and rewarding field. It takes many types of education professionals to prepare our children, youth and adults for an ever-changing world. Our College of Education’s faculty, staff and community partners are committed to providing experiences to build the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in multiple education settings and occupations. These careers include teachers, principals and superintendents for K-2 districts, schools and classrooms; teachers and administrators for informal education organizations like museums, zoos and nature centers; counselors and mental health professionals for schools, hospitals, corporate employee assistance programs, clinics and private settings; adult educators and trainers for a variety of career and vocational centers; and higher education leaders and instructors for community colleges, career technical schools, and four-year colleges and universities.

Liberal Studies Program

Bachelor of Liberal Studies

The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) is a degree program that enables students to combine structured academic emphases in ways more relevant to your interests, profession, or area of expertise than the standard academic major. The BLS degree provides a framework to assemble all of the educational opportunities that may be locally available into a coherent four-year educational program. Most of the total degree requirements can be transferred from accredited institutions. Coursework completed at community colleges or other accredited colleges and universities can be applied toward the degree, as can applicable courses taken at UMSL, whether on or off campus. The BLS may serve as a terminal degree or as preparation for graduate school, professional school, or employment in business, government or industry.

Nursing Program

Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The UMSL College of Nursing recognizes registered nurses as busy adult learners who are licensed professionals, often with years of experience. The RN to BSN program offers registered nurses the opportunity to continue their education through flexible and convenient programs, without repeating courses and experiences commonly completed as part of an associate's degree or diploma nursing program.

The RN to BSN plan of study is designed to be completed in five consecutive terms. Courses can be taken at select off-campus locations, online, or on the UMSL campus. Courses will be offered at St. Charles Community College, one evening per week, from 6:00 pm to 8:40 pm. The day of the week will vary according to the location at which the program is being offered.

Psychology Program

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology

The undergraduate Psychology program at UMSL ranks in the top 15% in the U.S., and our PhD programs are ranked in the top 50 programs nationwide. Our faculty have earned numerous prestigious awards for exemplary research productivity and excellence in teaching. Our professors are more than just award-winning teachers, as they also conduct research to generate new knowledge in Psychology and they bring this expertise into the classroom. In addition to the general areas of Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Neuropsychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, our faculty have further expertise in Trauma Studies, Aging, Endocrinology and Nonverbal Communication.

Bachelor of Social Work

Social workers serve individuals, families and communities. They are managers, supervisors and administrators. They serve at all levels of government. They are educators, therapists and researchers. They are also elected political leaders and politicians. Careers in social work include careers in the fields of Gerontology, Child Welfare, Justice/Corrections, Mental Health/Clinical Social Work, Developmental Disabilities, Employment/Occupational Social Work, Public Welfare, Communities, Administration, Management and Public Interest Groups.
