At the University of Missouri-St. Louis, "we value the uniqueness of every individual and strive to ensure each person's success. Contributions from individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives promote intellectual pluralism and enable us to achieve the excellence that we seek in learning, research and engagement. This commitment makes our university a better place to work, learn and innovate."
Our Mission: Guided by Inclusive Excellence
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) supports the strategic vision, mission and values of the University of Missouri-St. Louis. In addition, it is the role of ODEI to work in partnership with campus units to ensure that the university is in full compliance with all federal, state, and local equal opportunity laws and Title IX regulations.
The office provides professional development opportunities, oversees the University's grievance and equity-resolution process, sponsors campus events and conversations, provides leadership for strategic initiatives guided by inclusive excellence, and serves as a resource for staff and faculty hiring.
Our Why: Strategic Priorities
We bring a diverse set of talents, knowledge, and experience to this increasingly complex work.
As one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse institutions in Missouri, our work is closely aligned with the University's commitment to creating a culture of inclusion where all students, faculty, staff and visitors can thrive. To this end, we endeavor daily to foster inclusion and equity, to amplify the voices of our students, faculty and staff, provide avenues for understanding and awareness, and periodically review institutional policies and procedures.
Our Partnerships: Collective Commitment
Through partnerships and collaborations, we leverage the knowledge, talents, and energy across campus and in the community to organize events, develop strategic initiatives, provide education and resources, and help ensure that programs, policies, and initiatives are inclusive of all members of our campus community.
