WOW Adventures on Thursday, August 15, 2013

 

Get out, get connected, and get to know your new home away from home!

On Thursday, August 15th, you will have an opporunity to experience a WOW Adventure with other fellow Tritons like youself. WOW Adventures provide you with a great opportunity to continue meeting new people, to continue getting to know your new community, and to continue having fun! There is a trip available for every college student's budget, so check it out and choose your adventure!

CARDINALS BASEBALL GAME VS PIRATES

Come watch the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team battle the Pirates at Busch Stadium! The first pitch will be thrown out at 12:45 pm. This adventure will leave Oak Residence Hall at 11:30 am and return after the game.

WHAT TO BRING: Be sure to bring your free metro pass, UMSL Triton ID Card, and a few dollars to get yourself a snack or memorabilia!

COST: $20.00 includes baseball ticket and food voucher for a soda and hot dog

TRANSPORTATION: Metro Link; and Walking to Stadium

CITY MUSEUM

Explore the unexpected at this exciting, interactive museum for children and adults. A mixture of funhouse, playground, and architectural marvel.  Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes. This adventure will leave Oak Hall at Noon and will return at 5:00 pm? Get ready to go down slides, crawl through tunnels, and ride the full Ferris wheel on the rooftop!

COST: Included entrance to Museum and Roof Top:  $11.00

TRAVEL ON THE METRO TO THE VIBRANT ENTERTAINMENT, RESTAURANTS AND SHOPPING DISTRICT: TRIP TO THE DELMAR LOOP

Explore the six blocks of exhilarating retail, restaurants, live music, café culture, and even a Walk-of-Fame. This location, streetcars from downtown “looped around” to return to the city, which gave the area its name. This trip will leave in front of Oak Hall at 11:00 am and will return at 4:00 pm.

TAKE THE METRO TO DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS & JOURNEY TO THE TOP OF THE GATEWAY ARCH

The Gateway Arch attracts four million guests each year. At 630 ft., our nation’s tallest man-made monument includes the Journey to the Top, movies, Museum of Westward Expansion and shopping. The Gateway Arch serves as the anchor for the Core of Discovery, a family friendly attractions district that spans from the St. Louis Riverfront to Citygarden.

Join us for this adventure to watch the award-winning “Monument to the Dream” movie that provides an up-close story on how this art and engineering happened and then “Journey to the Top” to enjoy a bird’s eye view from 650 feet above. Please eat lunch prior to this journey, and meet in front of Oak Hall to depart at 11:30 am.

SAFARI ADVENTURE TO THE ST. LOUIS ZOO  

Join us for a fun safari trip to the St. Louis Zoo. With over six main zoo zones, you are sure to enjoy the elephants and cheetahs playing, pet the friendly goats and bunnies, or see the wild apes hanging around in the trees. This is an all-day adventure that you sure don’t want to miss out! We will meet at 10:00 am in front of Oak Hall and will return at 5:00 pm. 

Make the most of your day at the Zoo with a Safari Pass. This one-day pass includes one admission to the Children's Zoo, Zooline Railroad, Conservation Carousel, Movie, 4-D Motion Simulator and Stingrays at Caribbean Cove (seasonal). Lunch and snacks will be on your own.

MISSOURI HISTORY MUSEUM

This adventure takes us back to the Spirit of St. Louis! Join us in learning about the History of St. Louis, the 1904 World’s Fair, and American Revolution on the Frontier guided tours. You will enjoy the many pictures, movies, and artifacts that are on display, and learn about your new home away from home! Please eat lunch prior to leaving campus. This adventure will begin at 12:30 pm in front of Oak Hall.
